Assyria in Iraq, of course part of Syria today is part of that. Also Northern Iraq was a part of Assyria, and it was always fighting with its neighbours. First was Assyria, then Babylon, where did the Medes and Persians originate. Persia, they changed the name to Iran. I think it was only after World War 2 that they started to change the names of all these countries....
